About Me

Ruth Wood (Walland)

For 32 years I was a singing teacher and vocal coach, and for the last 8 I’ve run Singing4Health groups around the Midlands. I have a CT ABRSM, a diploma in singing for health, certificates in Singing to Beat Parkinson’s and Dementia and have been a member of the Association of Teachers of Singing and the British Voice Association.

I run a small choir HHH (Hamberley Heavenly Harmonies) based at Cofton Park Manor Care Home in Rednal, which revolves around listening to each other and harmonizing by ear. We perform three concerts a year at the home, which are open to the public.

I trained in NLP up to Master Practitioner level, and under my professional name of Walland have been a singer and recording artist all my adult life travelling around the world, including singing with Ex Cathedra in Israel (Britten’s “War Requiem” in Tel Aviv) and taking part in the concert that opened the Olympics in Sydney in 2000, and the UK including several Proms concerts, jazz festival services and cabaret appearances.

As a writer, In addition to published poems, I’ve produced an anthology of poems (“Musings of a lost soul”) and a biographical account of my first year managing disability (“In my Dreams I’m Dancing”) both available on Amazon.

I’m looking forward to expanding my Singing 4 Health groups and the choir, and the issue of my next album (“Foxie Folk Remembered – 50 years on”) due out on Spotify by the end of December 2025.
